Introduction to Learning Management Systems at IUM

My name is Magreth Antonia Effei Smith, with student number 230112315 and my blog domain is https://www.lmsonlineeducationium.com. Learning Management Systems (LMS) have transformed how education is delivered and managed, particularly in an increasingly digital age. At the International University of Management (IUM), the integration of LMS has been pivotal in enhancing online education, facilitating a more effective learning experience for both students and faculty.

What is an LMS

A Learning Management System (LMS) is a software application that enables the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, and delivery of educational courses or training programs. It allows educators to create and manage courses, track student progress, and provide resources in a streamlined manner (Ellis, 2018).

Historical Context of LMS at IUM

The implementation of the LMS at IUM began in the early 2010s, aiming to gear the university toward modern educational practices that emphasize online and blended learning models. Over the years, IUM has continually updated its LMS capabilities to include features that support interactive learning and improve academic delivery.

Why IUM Chose LMS for Online Education
The decision to adopt an LMS was driven by the need for an efficient platform that could offer flexible learning pathways, enhance course management, and meet the varied academic demands of IUM's diverse student body. As more students sought online learning opportunities, implementing a comprehensive LMS became essential to ensure quality education irrespective of geographical constraints (Sharma, 2020).
